At Ryburn Valley High School literacy is seen as a shared and whole school cross curricular responsibility that is at the core of school life.

Many exciting events are held every year and students are given the opportunity to develop and hone key literacy skills needed to succeed across the curriculum.

Events such as National Poetry Day and BBC School News Report see students producing celebrated published work and specialist areas for literacy intervention mean that those students requiring guidance can receive specialist support.

In addition, all students in Key Stage Three follow the Accelerated Reading Programme which allows careful monitoring of students literacy progress and encourages a love of reading.
