Overview of School Curriculum – KS3

At Ryburn Valley High School we provide a broad and balanced curriculum.  We ensure that all students follow a curriculum that develops, consolidates and supports their learning to help all achieve their personal best.

Students follow a two-week timetable consisting of 25 hours in each week.


Key Stage 3 – Years 7 and 8:

All students in Years 7 and 8 follow the same curriculum.

All students at Key Stage 3 participate in the “Accelerated Reading Programme”, and students who did not achieve a Level 4 in English and/or Mathematics at KS2 also attend additional sessions on a half-termly rota.
Students select their options following Year 8 Parents’ Evening in the Spring term. The current option block choices are available for view on the website (please note these are subject to change each year).
