Ryburn students look smart and feel ready to learn.

Our students are expected to have a high standard of personal appearance at all times. Parents/carers will be asked to replace any items which are not the correct uniform.

This is a short guide to our uniform code. Further information is given in the student planner.

Ties

We have colour coded ties for each year group. This years ties look like this. Year groups keep the same colour tie as they move through school; you do not need a new one each year.

Ties for 2024-2025

Tie

These are clip on and must be attached to the very top of the shirt collar.

Shirt

Plain white school shirt. This should be tucked in with the collar buttoned to the neck to enable a clip on tie to be worn.

Jumper or Blazer

This is navy with the Ryburn crest. Either a jumper or blazer must be worn around school.

JUMPERS AND BLAZERS

Jumpers and blazers are emblazened with our new school crest to match our PE kits. Ryburn jumpers and blazers are navy with the Ryburn crest. Either a jumper or blazer must be worn around school.

We will be phasing out old style jumpers and blazers for Years 8-11.

Old style uniform will no longer be available to buy from partnered suppliers, so all replacement jumpers and blazers will naturally be in the new design. Year 11’s need only purchase a new jumper if a replacement is required.

TROUSERS AND SKIRTS

Skirts and trousers should be a formal school style. No other styles are appropriate, including jeans style, denim, tight fitting, leggings, very wide leg, cropped or rolled up. They should not have studs, ties, zips or other embellishments. Skirts should touch the knee and trousers should be long enough to overlap black ankle socks. Short skirts, tube skirts, skater skirts and pencil skirts are not appropriate.

Skirts must be;

  • Black

  • Tailored

  • Knee Length

  • A-line

  • Pleated (Permanent Pleats)

Trousers must be:

  • Black

  • Tailored

  • Full-Length

Shoes

Only plain black, formal, leather (or leather look), low heeled shoes are allowed, the sort which would be appropriate for a smart office environment. There should be no visible logos or embellishments such as large buckles. Laces should be plain black, as should any stitching. High heels, boots, pumps, or sports style shoes such as Converse and Vans are NOT allowed.

SOCKS

Only plain black above the ankle socks or black tights are allowed. Trainer socks or pop socks are not permitted.

Please be aware many retailers may advertise items as being “school shoes”, this does not mean that they conform to the Uniform policy here at Ryburn. There are many shops selling suitable shoes. One way to ensure you choose something suitable is to check the above list before purchasing a school uniform.

Personal appearance

  • Hair colour and style must be appropriate for school. No unnatural hair colouring or any extreme hairstyles/shaven heads/tramlines.

  • A watch and one small stud in each ear is allowed, and should be in the lobe only. No other jewellery is permitted for safety reasons. No other body piercing, tattoos or stretchers allowed.
