Our students are our strength, and we are always looking for ways to use their skills and ideas to transform our school.

Everyone Matters at Ryburn.  Our Charity Leaders come up with fun events to help raise money for those in need. In the past they have planned dress down days, baked cakes of many different shapes and sizes, coordinated colour runs and performance events to raise money for local and national charities.

Our Eco Group works with Mr Jefferson to raise awareness of the issues concerning our planet and how even small changes can help us become more responsible towards our planet. The Eco Group implements strategies to reduce our use of plastics and ensure that we are actively recycling.  Ryburn cares about its environment and is making strong steps towards saving our planet.

Our Student Council is organised into year groups and has a positive contribution to the life of the school.  The student council delivers assemblies, campaigns, helps with transition and coordinated a number of fundraising activities throughout the academic year.  They provide valuable student voice and feedback key information to their form groups.

Our Teaching and Learning group provide valuable feedback on the structure and delivery of lessons.  They also help with recruitment by interviewing potential staff members and feeding back to our Senior Leadership Team.

our Leadership Groups

Everyone Matters. The Charity Leaders come up with fun events to help us raise money for those that need it. In the past they have planned a dress down day for Red Nose Day, baked cakes of many different shapes and sizes for Children in Need and even sold ice lollies to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

Our Eco Group work with Mr Jefferson by making sure that we’re all being as responsible towards our planet as we can be. They care for our environment and hope to spread awareness for the importance that our environment has.

Our Arts Council help our creative events run smoothly. They are the first friendly, welcoming face people see as they enter our school to attend our many events and productions. You might find them selling tickets for such events or back stage designing the sets.

We believe your voice is important. We might want to know if you feel a specific topic is important to you or whether you like your new school ties, for example. Our Voicebox group come up with innovative ways to get feedback from our students school wide and relay that information back to us.

New this year, we’re hoping our Career Leaders will help us develop our Careers Weeks to make them engaging for all years by helping us plan assemblies and feedback to us on previous weeks. We plan to train you up by working closely with our Careers Advisors in school to help our Year 9s make the right decisions when it comes to their options. We want students to know that their options matter and that you should pick what you want to do.
