Brilliant students visit Lancaster University

12 of the brightest students in Year 8 visited Lancaster University for the launch of this term's Brilliant Club programme. Our students enjoyed a guided campus tour, learned academic study skills and learned lots about university life.

Here are some things we learned:

  • The university with the highest population of ducks is York.
  • You can take a degree in Viking Studies but not in Science (you have to choose a specific science to specialise in)
  • Like Oxford, Cambridge and Durham, Lancaster University has colleges.
  • Lancaster campus has its own Costa, Greggs, juice bar and even an ice cream shop.

On returning to school, the students will be taking part in weekly supervisions with a Phd tutor and completing their own 1400 word university style assignment. They are raring to get stuck in to the challenge.
