Bubble closures procedure

We are contacting all parents/carers today and asking you to complete the contact form below, in order to streamline and speed up the process of sending students home in the event of an emergency bubble or school closure.

As you’ll be aware, like all schools both locally and nationally, we are under increasing pressure at the moment due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases and managing the closures of bubbles in school.

Until now, when we have closed a bubble, we have kept all of the affected students at school until we have spoken directly to their parent/carer and confirmed consent for them to be allowed home or be collected. In the event of a large closure, such as a whole year group, this process can take some time.

Going forward, we want to confirm prior consent for those students who are allowed to make their own way home from school on foot in the event of a closure (due to the requirement to self-isolate, they are not permitted to catch the public bus). All parents will still be informed by text and email before students are dismissed. However, if we can reduce the number of telephone calls we have to make, it will significantly speed the process up, and improve student safety as we will have less students waiting in school.

Bubble closure procedure

In the event of a bubble, partial or school closure, this is what will happen:

  1. All parents/carers of affected students will be contacted by text message and email (please ensure we have your correct contact details)

  2. Those students who have prior consent to make their own way home on foot will be dismissed from school.

  3. The remaining students will remain in school whilst telephone calls are made to parents/carers who have requested direct contact, and will be dismissed once consent is given to do so or once they are collected

Response required

Please click the button below and complete the form as soon as possible. If you have more than one child at Ryburn, complete a separate form for each child.

You should discuss the arrangements with your child, and make any necessary arrangements, such as ensuring they have a house key. If they are making their own way home, they must walk directly home, not go via a shop, friend’s house, park etc. They are not permitted to travel by bus. This is due to the requirement to self isolate.

We’re continuing to work closely with Public Health England, to follow all of our measures in school to keep students safe, and to keep you well informed.

As cases rise nationally, we ask our students and families to be extra careful in following the guidelines at home too, as this will help to reduce the risk to all of us. Thank you for your continued support.
