School Closure Update - Looking ahead

With 9 weeks since school closed, we're sure you're wondering when this situation will end. Whilst we don't yet have a final answer to this question, we wanted to get in touch with an update.

Please see the letter below outlining the position on the wider opening of our schools from the Together Learning Trust, of which Ryburn is a part, along with a number of local Calderdale and Kirklees schools.

As you know, our school has remained open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children, and this will continue, including through through half term next week. If you need to make use of this provision, please contact a.mitchell@rvhschool.co.uk.

At the moment, we are still awaiting further guidance from the government on when and how secondary schools will be advised to reopen, starting with years 10 and 12. When we have further information, we will share this with you. In the meantime, we have been carefully assessing the guidance and considering how to approach reopening our school, keeping the safety and wellbeing of our staff, children and families paramount.

Parent and Carer Survey

We would be very grateful if you could take a moment to complete our consultation. It asks about your thoughts on the reopening of schools, and about your child's wellbeing and experiences of home learning during lockdown. It's important to us to ensure parents' and carers' views help advise our planning, and that you feel as confident as possible  so your responses will be really valuable.

Half term

Next week is officially 'half term' therefore no new work will be set. We hope students will use the time to either catch up, to pursue their own hobbies and interests or to enjoy a break, of sorts. If you need things to do, check out our page of more home learning activities, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for some ideas through the week. Please bear in mind that it may take longer teachers to reply to your emails, they may not respond until the following week.

A huge thank you to you for supporting us and your children's learning, whilst in many cases continuing to work. Remember, we're here to support you, so please contact your child's Head of Year if you have any concerns about your child.
