A GCSE in Mathematics helps to build up essential skills that are used on a daily basis. Skills such as problem solving, analyzing data, communication, logical thinking and attention to detail.
The GCSE Mathematics content is divided into six main domains:
Number
Algebra
Ratio, Proportion and Rates of Change
Geometry and measures
Probability
Statistics
The teaching will enable student to develop understanding of mathematical methods and concepts. It will also allow the student to reason, make deductions and draw conclusions. They will also learn to interpret and communicate mathematical information. These are all very useful and highly regarded attributes to possess.
In the GCSE there is an emphasis on problem solving and mathematical reasoning. Students will also be required to learn formulae.
