Ryburn students learn how to be confident and aware young people, whilst building healthy relationships and compassion for others.

We cover all eight core themes of PHSCE across a range of subjects, off timetable days (which we call iDays) and assemblies. Students will have numerous encounters with each theme throughout their time at school, each time building upon and deepening their knowledge, and hearing from diverse voices and role models.

You can see a breakdown mapping how we cover each themes in each year group in our PSHCE Overviews below.

PSHCE’s eight core themes

  • Mental Wellbeing

  • Internet Safety and Harm

  • Physical Health and Fitness

  • Healthy Eating

  • Drugs

  • Alcohol and Tobacco

  • Health and Prevention

  • Basic First Aid

  • Changing Adolescent Body

  • Citizenship

PSHCE IN RYBURN SIXTH

The moment we decide to fulfil something, we can do anything.
— Greta Thunberg

Preparing students for success in further education and the workplace is so much more than academic learning. We teach our students how to form healthy coping mechanisms, we show them the skills to achieve effective independent learning, and how be confident enough to present themselves at interviews.

We build on the skills and experience gained throughout KS3 and KS4 to prepare our students for a world outside of Ryburn, and to be the best version of themselves they can be.
