Could you imagine learning every life lesson you would learn over your 5 years in secondary school in an hour?
Well that is exactly what happened during our Year 7 Drop Down Day when Adam Rood from Quality School Workshops performed ‘The Alphabet of a Teenager’. This performance taught our students core lessons in Drugs & Alcohol abuse, emotional health and wellbeing, relationships, careers education, exams, racism, safety and many more.
This performance brought all of these important topics together in a a coherent story which gripped our students as they went through every emotion possible in one hour.
‘Alphabet of a teenager captures the very essence of what it is like to be a teenager, using the performance platform to offer solutions to the most common issues that teenagers face, without preaching to them.’
During the rest of the day the students were able to delve deeper into some of these topics with the help of Branching Out and Healthy Minds. Exploring drug abuse and its affects allows students to make more informed decisions. Healthy minds teaches our students how to deal with stress and how to overcome negative thoughts and emotions.
A big thank you to all our guests for inspiring our students and for helping them to prepare for the future.
