As we look towards the end of this school year, we want to say a final thank you to everyone and wish you all a lovely and restful break.
Next academic year will still have some slight changes to usual but we look forward with optimism to an exciting return.
Here’s the key information you need on:
our final day tomorrow
testing and reporting covid over the summer
exam results days for Year 11 and 13
the plans for reopening in September, including a change to the first date of the Autumn term.
Information updated 31 August to note that first tests will be done on a drop in basis rather than by appointment.
End of Term Arrangements
School will break up for all students on Friday 23 July at 12:15pm, this will be a non-uniform day. The following buses will depart school at 12:30pm: S1, S2, S4, S5, S6, S7 and S9. Any pupil who uses the S10 service can use the S7 which runs exactly the same route. Any pupils who use the C14 can use the 579 which stops on St. Peter’s Avenue.
On Friday 23 July the schedule for lessons will be amended to support this earlier finish time. All year groups will follow the same schedule (including students accessing remote learning):
Form | Period 1 | Break | Period 2 | Period 3 |
---|---|---|---|---|
08:55 - 09:15 | 09:15 - 10:15 | 10:15 - 10:45 | 10:45 - 11:45 | 11:45 - 12:15 |
A limited lunch service will be available for all students who require it in the canteen between 12:15 and 12:30.
Testing and Reporting Covid
We would encourage all families to continue with the bi-weekly Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) over the Summer holidays. Additional packs are available locally at pharmacies, testing centres or online. Where a positive LFT is recorded, all members of the household should isolate and book a PCR test (either via a centre or a postal kit). If the subsequent PCR test returns a positive result then Test and Trace will work with families in the first instance to identify close contacts.
Please be aware that if there are any linked cases then Calderdale Public Health will contact school to support in identifying any close contact in the 2 full days prior to the onset of any symptoms.
We would still like to ask parents to inform school of any positive LFTs or PCRs to enable us to monitor any outbreaks. To report a positive LFT or PCR test please complete the link below
September Opening
As per the DfE guidance to schools, in September, Ryburn students will be offered two Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) in school. One of these will be an appointment the day before they start back at school, and the second will be following their return. This is similar to what happened when students returned to school in March.
Students are also asked to continue with the bi-weekly testing at home until at least the end of September.
To support with the organisation of the first LFT prior to return, we are staggering our opening during the first week as follows:
START DATES FOR AUTUMN TERM
Year group | Date of Test 1 (by appointment) | Start of Term |
---|---|---|
7 | Tuesday 7 September | Wednesday 8 September 8:55 AM |
12 | Tuesday 7 September | Wednesday 8 September 10:00 AM |
10, 11 and 13 | Wednesday 8 September | Thursday 9 September 8:55 AM |
8 and 9 | Thursday 9 September | Friday 10 September 8:55 AM |
With the exception of Year 12 on 8 September, we will be running our normal school hours of 8.55am-3.15pm. School will be open from 8:15am with a breakfast service available.
Students will undertake a second test following their return. All testing is voluntary, and consent will be confirmed prior to return.
First tests will take place on the day before your child returns to school. These will be on a drop in basis, with school open from 8am-6pm for tests. You may have a short wait during busy times.
More details on the return to school and LFT booking will be emailed out prior to the start of term. Please note that the early Wednesday B week finish will not apply next year.
Please note that the above arrangements are subject to change depending on any directive from the Department of Education or Public Health England. We do, however, expect (and look forward to!) a full return to traditional classroom teaching in September.
Uniform
You will have also received an email from our Deputy Head, Mr Curry, detailing the expectations in terms of uniform from September.
There are no changes to our policy, however we wanted to remind all parents of the correct guidelines before you go uniform shopping this summer, as we will be strictly enforcing these rules next term. You can find our full policy at www.rvhs.co.uk/uniform. Please read this information clearly and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your Head of Year.
Students will keep the same colour coded year group ties they have been wearing this year. The new year 7s will wear ties with a purple stripe.
Exam Results Days
Year 13 - Tuesday 10 August 2021 - 8:30am
Year 11 – Thursday 12 August 2021 - 8:30am
Exam results will be sent to students by email, first thing in the morning on the respective results day. These will be sent to school email addresses, so please make sure students can still access this. Please email helpdesk@rvhschool.co.uk as soon as possible if your child is no longer able to access their school email account.
Like so many other things this year, results days will look a little different, but students will get both their results, and a face-to-face meeting with staff. Letters have been sent to students with information about booking or confirming appointments with staff on their Results Day.
Students should use the following links to organise their appointments by Friday 23 July:
This year, results in England have been awarded as Teacher Assessed Grades. You can find out more in our guide to gradings, including how we have handled these at Ryburn and a full list of all the evidence our teachers have used.
For any further queries about this year’s results days please email r.brenchley@rvhschool.co.uk.
We wish you all a wonderful break this Summer and look forward to welcoming our students back in September.
