iDay

Friday 5 March is another drop down day, when we suspend our usual timetable to make way for activities that develop wider knowledge and skills and support wellbeing.

Here’s what’s on offer for students today. We hope you have a great day, and we’d love to hear how it goes.

Key Stage 3

For students in years 7 and 8, we’re exploring the real world and the impact we can have on it, and the value of curling up with a good book and exploring the world from within its pages.

Your day includes a live event with authors at 10.30am, a choice of World Book Day themed activities and competitions, and chance to plan your own fundraising charity event for Comic Relief.

Follow the slideshow below for your input and activities. Click the little square to view it full screen.

For Year 9 it is Taster Day and you will be trying out your three chosen Options taster lessons, which should appear in your Teams calendar. Feel free to explore the activities suggested in the slideshow below if you need anything for the rest of the day.

Key Stage 4

Today is all about motivation. Watch a seminar full of inspiring speakers, then have a go at your own vision board and goal setting.

In the afternoon, get off screens and recharge your batteries with your choice of an activity that makes you feel good. Get creative, get active, or curl up with a good book.

Ryburn Sixth

It’s a drop down day for Key Stage 5 students too. You’ll also have opportunity to watch the motivational seminar above.

In the afternoon session, you’ll have a choice of activities including academic competitions and challenges, university masterclasses and podcasts, virtual campus tours, TED Talks and the Student Investor Challenge. Check your email for details and links.

Lateral flow test appointments

Tomorrow is years 11-13s turn for your first lateral flow covid test in school, with appointments throughout the day. Please try to keep to your appointment time. You may be waiting outside before you can come in for your test, so please dress for the weather. And remember, face coverings are required as soon as you get onto school premises (unless exempt) and only removed for the testing.
