Year 11 students will get a taste of their future on 4 February, with a full programme of online workshops, live lessons, videos and resources to explore what’s on offer post 16.
Ryburn Sixth Taster Day
As well as chance to try out Key Stage 5 live lessons in different subjects, the programme for the Taster Day also includes sessions on Ryburn Sixth life, university and Level 3 Apprenticeships. Our Senior Students Ravi, Eleisha and Bibi are putting together a virtual tour and will be on hand for a live Q&A so you can find out what it’s really like being a Ryburn Sixth student. It should be a really interesting day and we look forward to welcoming you, virtually, to our fantastic sixth form.
Alternatives to Sixth Form
For students who are looking for something different, our ‘Alternatives to Sixth Form’ day will look at other opportunities. The morning will feature a CV writing masterclass from our careers advisors C&K Careers, and ASK will be telling all about apprenticeships. We’ll also have employers, apprenticeships and colleges represented including: Covea, Morrisons, the RAF, Police, NHS, Balfour Beatty, LLS Sports College, White Rose Beauty, Calderdale and Kirklees Colleges and more. Through a mixture of live workshops, video presentations and online content you can find out more about the opportunities open to you.
Creating a virtual version our annual Taster Day has brought some challenges, but we are really pleased with our programme and believe it will provide an interesting, informative and enjoyable day for students. One advantage of bringing it online is that we’ll be able to make most of the resources and recordings available to students to access after the event. So if you want to try out more subjects than the taster day timetable allows, you will have the opportunity to do so.
Students have been allocated to whichever strand is most suited to their preferences, and should already be aware which it is. Information on your individually tailored programme for the day will be sent to each student by email and through lesson invitations in Microsoft Teams. You do not need to do anything apart from turn up and join in - but if you have any questions please contact Mrs Brenchley.
